The fishing on Guntersville the last few weeks has been really good. You have to work at it and might fish alot of areas with little success but when you find them it's fast and furious. You can fish shallow or deep depending on your personal preference. The deep bite is a patience deal with being a...

Lamenting the lost...three words that most accurately describe my fishing at the PAA All-Star Event on Lake Ray Hubbard.  Day one of the event was actually a good day of fishing, I generated a good number of keeper bites, it was my execution, or should I say my poor level of execution that put a sev...

First off I’d like to apologize about not getting back online for a few days. After the classic I really wanted to spend some time at home with Lesley and the kids before heading back to the Harris chain getting the Elite road rolling again. You know I got to say, what a great classic, unlike ye...

As 50 of the bass fishing biggest names became surrounded by media from around the world there was certainly a buzz in the air about the timing of this event. This last week you would not have seen me on my normal stomping grounds, "The California Delta"! Instead I was busy preparing and fishing the Anglers Choice Pro-Am on Lake Oroville. I pre-fished the lake on Thursday and Friday in preparation for the Sat-Sun Tournament. Having only seen this lake onc...

I cannot remember a time in my life when fishing was not a part. Growing up in South Texas I grew up fishing the coast, irrigation tanks and Falcon Lake. In the early 70's, while in college, I was introduced to true bass fishing and tournaments. I was instantly hooked (pun intended) on worm and spinnerbait fishing. I fished many tournaments and was encouraged to fish the BASS circuit by some special fishing buddies (now renown pros), but raising my kids took priority.

In 1977 I began part-time guiding and continued (though not always my top priority) until retirement. Now I devote my energy towards the great sport of fishing.

My passion is learning to be a better angler and sharing my knowledge through educational training, on and off the water. I find that many people are not blessed with the desire, perseverance nor patience to instruct others.

I, on the other hand, relish the opportunity to promote fishing and education. Therefore, my guide service and website promote the concepts of teaching one to fish so they can feed themselves for life. So, when you need a guide, speaker or educator, give me a call and schedule a date.

Getting in Tune This article, the fourth in a series about spinnerbaits, emphasizes the importance of tuning. I sing with the Hill Country Chorus in New Braunfels, a men’s A- Cappella Barbershop singing group. We spend countless hours tuning our voices in harmony so we can “ring” the chords, which ...

As an angler myself, I understand being cooped up in your house for the winter months doing “honey do’s” and some of your own projects. We call that “cabin fever”. Well it is getting to that time where we want to just go out and whack ‘um, rip lips, you get the point but take a step back and “reme...
